Each year in October CoolTan Arts Largactyl Shuffle hold a Sponsored Walk. This is our biggest public event of the year, and our biggest fundraiser. It’s a chance for everyone to get together and support CoolTan.
Visit the Events page of our website to find out about the next Sponsored Walk in October 2016.
What is it?
The Sponsored Walk is a fun guided walk celebrating World Mental Health Day, and is a chance to raise funds for the work of CoolTan Arts.
The Largactyl Shuffle has been running since 2006 and is named after the oldest anti-psychotic drug, Largactyl, that can have extreme physical side effects including a distinctive shambolic gait, or ‘shuffling’. The walks are researched and led by our Largactyl Shuffle volunteer group who meet weekly to plan and research.
The World Mental Health Day was launched by the World Federation for Mental Health. You can read more about it here: World Mental Health Day
Why are we raising money?
CoolTan Arts provide much of its support to people in South London – an area which has one of the highest incidences of mental distress in Western Europe. We enable people to develop their potential, reconnect with their aspirations, recover and enjoy life!
Due to severe funding cuts to organisations like CoolTan Arts we need your help to ensure we can continue making a difference. All money raised by the event will enable CoolTan Arts to continue their vital work supporting people with mental distress to gain confidence, learn to self-advocate and build a quality of life.
