Volunteer of the Month: Jeff Crownson

Jeff-B&W1. What made you decide to start volunteering here?

I was looking to volunteer where I could make use of my hobbies of Photography and Adobe Photoshop. Looking on the Do-It website I found CoolTan Arts who were looking for volunteers with these interests, so I decided to give it a try.

2. What is an average day like volunteering at CoolTan?

Since I’ve started volunteering at Cooltan I have been involved in a few different projects. When I first joined the book and exhibition about the history of CoolTan Arts: A Trip Down Memory Lane was being put together, which I immediately got involved in. Since then I have been photographing various other exhibitions, events and walks that CoolTan run, for listing on the website.

3. What has been the best thing about volunteering with us?

I think the best thing about volunteering with CoolTan is the chance to get involved with other creative people, and having the support and enthusiasm of the staff.
Also it’s good to see my photos and artwork being actually used for a purpose, not just left on a hard drive, as was the case before I joined CoolTan.

4. What are your future plans?

My future plans are to continue volunteering on the photography projects I have been involved with, and also help to get the video workshop started, which is another of my interests.
