Volunteers recognised in Southwark Stars ceremony at Tate!

Two CoolTan Arts volunteers, Mel and Vassiste, were awarded prestigous Southwark Stars awards last week for their contributions in volunteering.

Mel earned a Southwark Star for giving over 100 hours of her time to help CoolTan staff with administration, carrying out vital projects in the office and helping everything run smoothly.

Vassiste, who also attends CoolTan, was named Disabled People’s Champion of the Year, for his volunteering at Pembroke House.

The award ceremony was held at the Tate Exchange at Tate Modern on 2nd May, and run by Community Southwark. It recognised people in twelve different categories and awarded over 80 certificates to volunteers who have contributed 100 hours or more in the last year. The event began with a welcome address from our Chief Executive Gordon McCullough and Head of Tate Exchange’s Fiona Kingsman.
