CoolTan Arts Video

Here are some of the great videos that CoolTan’s participants and volunteers have created over the last few years.

CoolTan Arts Lates at the Science Museum – Documentation by CoolTan’s Video Group of the Largactyl Shuffle@Science Museum Lates project. This was a collaborative project between The Science Museum and CoolTan Arts during 2013-2014, in which we explored the history of mental health since the 19th Century with guided public walks around the museum.

A Postcard to the World – In summer 2012, London played host to the Olympic and Paralympic Games. CoolTan Arts also played a role in the Games, with our exciting Mail-Art project A Postcard To The World, where we invited Londoners to explore their feelings about the Games through art. This video, created by CoolTan’s Video Group, explores what happened during the project, which took place during 2012-13.

CoolTan Arts Dickens News – Taking place in the bicentenary year of Charles Dickens, CoolTan Arts’ Dickens News was a heritage project which produced 4 art exhibitions and a original 8 page newspaper published in November 2012 in partnership with The Southwark News. The project examined the relevance of Dickens work to today and brought to life and contemporised the characters created by Charles Dickens. Articles, poetry, illustration and textile design explored Dickens early years in the local area of Southwark and compared and contrasted society and social issues in Dickensian and modern day London. This project was made possible with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund. This video, created by CoolTan’s Video Group, explores what happened during the project, which took place during 2012-13.

Personalisation – This film resulted from a group animation project at CoolTan Arts on Personalisation, a government scheme aiming to distribute personal budget to people who suffer from disabilities, hoping to promote more self-control over one’s treatment. Workshops took place during 2011 where the group explored the pros and cons of the new scheme and the process any individual will need to go though to access a personal budget. The need for this kind of a project came from our participants who felt the process is complex and that they are currently excluded from the decision making process.

Personalisation & LGBT – Short animation by CoolTan Arts’ LGBT group on the issues facing LGBT people and what they might require from the Personalisation process.
