Southwark Council, NHS Southwark and CoolTan Arts are pleased to announce CoolWalks – a wellbeing public walks project in association with Southwark Libraries and Public Health that gives you the opportunity to get active, get to know your local area, make friends and find out more about what’s on offer at the three participating libraries in Southwark!
By getting involved you can help us develop a set of themed walks, each with its own identity. Participating libraries are – Peckham, John Harvard and Canada Water. Starting in February and running until May, CoolTan Arts will run open workshops at each library to design and research the walks.
Project participants will have the opportunity to access training in a range of practical skills including library research, walk leading, graphic design and blogging about the walks as a way of raising public interest. The project is open to all and aims to make contact with local people, community groups and existing library users.
Groups will be invited to undertake local history research on selected themes to create the walks. Potential topics include Black Heritage, Literature, and Architecture and Industry. A series of three guided walks will take place from April to May 2013.
|If you would like to get involved, please contact Project Coordinator, Georgina Rodgers at firstname.lastname@example.org or 020 7701 2696.|
