Along the 3 mile route our friendly guides lead you on a journey exploring the local history and landmarks of Southwark and their connection to Dickens life and novels.
Walk with us to find out about Dickens’s hidden links to central Southwark , 19th Century mental health services and the grand local institutions of Camberwell and Peckham houses!
We will stop at Burgess Park to hear about ‘ Victorian & Dickens’s abandoned women’, refresh ourselves in their eatery and see the development of our local park.
Dickens himself had experience of mental distress and insomnia and was famous for taking long walks around London, especially at night.
CoolTan Arts Largactyl Shuffle is a guided, stigma-busting cultural walk, designed to encourage mental and physical wellbeing, through art, exercise, humour and history.
The walk leaders wear orange high-viz vests and rucksacks. Call CoolTan Arts on 07985 658443 if you cannot find the group of walkers on the day.
