Tutors needed to teach adult workshops

CoolTan Arts has exciting opportunities for experienced tutors to teach adults workshops, including IT, screen printing, creative writing, poetry, desktop publishing, Photoshop, portrait drawing, machine sewing and batik/indigo dyeing. You will be paid £20 per hour.

Key skills:

Teaching experience essential

Communication, interpersonal organisational skills

Energy, enthusiasm, motivation

Patience and the ability to give support

Free Workshops for Southwark Residents

Have fun, meet new people, gain new skills!

CoolTan Arts will run free arts and multimedia workshops open to all Southwark residents over 19.

Places are allocated on a first-come first-served basis. Workshops start from March and run until July 2010, and Southwark residents can attend one course of 10 hours.

To make a booking, please return the enrolment form to CoolTan Arts, along with a deposit of £10 (unemployed) or £20 (employed). Cheques need to be made payable to CoolTan Arts and will be returned upon completion of the course. Tuition is free but materials re not included.

Film trailer: In the studio with Maggi Hambling

In this clip Artist Maggi Hambling, who was given a CBE in the New Years honours list this year, is interviewed in her studio about her work, sexuality and mental health. Hambling is a patron of CoolTan Arts. She is a painter and sculptor whose work is held by the National Gallery in London, The Tate, and whose controversial statue of Oscar Wilde sits alongside Charing Cross Station in London. This short film directed by Mike Wyeld will be available for screenings in 2010.

‘In the studio with Maggi Hambling’ will feature at the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival at the BFI.
