CoolTan Arts at the BFI from CoolTan Arts on Vimeo.

This interview based video shows moments from the premiere of three CoolTan Arts productions at the BFI Southbank cinema complex. The screening of ‘Largactyl Shuffle’, ‘In the studio with Maggi Hambling’ and ‘CoolTan Arts Introduction’ was organised by CoolTan Arts and the British Film Institute.

CoolTan Arts will run free arts and multimedia workshops open to all Southwark residents over 19.

Places are allocated on a first-come first-served basis. Workshops start from March and run until July 2010, and Southwark residents can attend one course of 10 hours.

To make a booking, please return the enrolment form to CoolTan Arts, along with a deposit of £10 (unemployed) or £20 (employed). Cheques need to be made payable to CoolTan Arts and will be returned upon completion of the course. Tuition is free but materials re not included.

In this clip Artist Maggi Hambling, who was given a CBE in the New Years honours list this year, is interviewed in her studio about her work, sexuality and mental health. Hambling is a patron of CoolTan Arts. She is a painter and sculptor whose work is held by the National Gallery in London, The Tate, and whose controversial statue of Oscar Wilde sits alongside Charing Cross Station in London. This short film directed by Mike Wyeld will be available for screenings in 2010.

‘In the studio with Maggi Hambling’ will feature at the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival at the BFI.

Altered States is an art exhibition organised by CoolTan Arts to celebrate World Mental Health Day. The exhibition was showcased at the Dulwich Picture Gallery and includes paintings, drawings and screen prints.
